Bharatanatyam Classes in Dubai
Discover the ancient art of Bharatanatyam - South India’s most prestigious classical dance form, taught by specialist instructors.
About Our Bharatanatyam Classes
Bharatanatyam classes at Melody Makers in Dubai are group lessons for all ages, teaching South India’s oldest classical dance form at our Karama studio with nearly 30 years of experience. Students earn formal certification through the ABGMVM examination board, established in 1901 and recognised by the UGC. The structured curriculum covers adavus, mudras and abhinaya, progressing from foundation through advanced examination levels.
Our Bharatanatyam classes begin with yoga-based warm-ups that prepare the body for the physical demands of the dance form. Students then progress through the learning of adavus (basic dance units or steps), mudras (hand gestures with specific meanings), and the rich vocabulary of abhinaya (facial expression and storytelling). Choreography combines these elements into increasingly complex compositions as students advance.
Classes are conducted by specialist, formally trained instructors who bring both technical mastery and a deep respect for the cultural heritage of Bharatanatyam. Students progress from beginner levels through to advanced repertoire, with regular performance opportunities at our concerts, cultural events and charity shows in Dubai’s vibrant Indian community.
Bharatanatyam develops extraordinary discipline, physical fitness, grace, coordination and cultural awareness. Many families in Dubai choose Bharatanatyam to help their children connect with their South Indian heritage while developing a beautiful, demanding performing art that builds character and confidence.
For students seeking formal recognition of their Bharatanatyam training, Melody Makers offers certification through the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal (ABGMVM) - one of India’s oldest and most respected examination boards for classical performing arts, established in 1901 and recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Students can progress through a structured grade system from Prarambhik (foundation) through Visharad (advanced level) and beyond, earning qualifications that are recognised by Indian universities and cultural institutions worldwide. This certification pathway gives our Bharatanatyam students the same structured goal-setting and formal recognition that Trinity College London provides for our music students.

How Much Do Bharatanatyam Classes Cost?
From AED 220 / month
From AED 350 / month
Why we can price below the Dubai average
- ·Same Karama location since 1997. Rent was locked in decades before Dubai's commercial property boom. Most new studios in Jumeirah, JLT or Business Bay pay 5-10x our rate and pass that cost to students.
- ·Family-run, not VC-backed. No investor return targets to hit, no middle-management layer. The savings go back into keeping lessons affordable for UAE families.
- ·Small class sizes by default, not as an upsell. You get personal attention at the group rate — not a crowded class with a premium 1:1 tier gating the real teaching.
- ·No hidden fees. No enrolment fee, no recital fee, no annual membership. Pay month-to-month. Exam fees only if you choose to sit Trinity or ABGMVM.
