The biggest reason adults don’t take music lessons in Dubai isn’t time or money. It’s the quiet belief that they missed their window. It’s wrong, but it stops thousands of people from ever picking up the instrument they’ve always wanted to play.

A meaningful portion of Melody Makers students are adults. We have returning players (lessons as a kid, then life happened, now coming back), complete beginners (never touched the instrument), and professional musicians coming for refinement and Trinity accreditation. All three groups thrive in the same faculty environment.

We teach with the same structure adults bring to work: clear milestones, direct feedback, measurable progress. No pretending you’re a child to make a lesson plan work. No “wait until next year for chords” when you can handle chords today.

Why Melody Makers for adults

• Instructors who actually teach adults. Our Head of Faculty, Carah Magadan, has been with Melody Makers since 2011 and runs the adult curriculum personally. Several of our teachers have been here 15+ years and have taught hundreds of adult beginners and returning players.
• Flexible scheduling around work. Weekday evenings after 6pm, Saturday daytime, Sunday daytime, plus weekday morning slots for flexible schedules. We hold dedicated adult evening blocks so you’re not squeezed between kids’ classes.
• Private 1-to-1 or small adult groups. Most adults take private lessons for pacing. We also run small adult-only beginner groups (2 to 4 students) where everyone’s in the same boat. No self-conscious moments being the only adult in a room of children.
• No exam pressure unless you want it. Most adult students never sit a graded exam, they’re here to play. If you do want structure and external validation, we’re a Registered Trinity College London Exam Centre and you can sit any grade at our own studio.
• Specialists across instruments. Piano with Chamindri Rathnayake, guitar and drums with Christopher Racal, additional guitar with Kenneth Verdun. You get matched to the right teacher for your goal, not whoever has a slot.
• Karama studio fees. Same address since 1997 means our rent is well below newer schools in Jumeirah, Downtown or JLT, and that shows in our pricing. Adult group classes from AED 90 per class, private 1-to-1 higher.
• Ages 18 to 70+. We have active students in every adult decade. Our oldest current student is in their 70s and started piano from zero. The curriculum adapts to where you are physically and where you want to go.
